Ayurvedic medicine, also known as Ayurveda, is one of the world’s oldest holistic (“whole-body”) healing systems. It was developed more than 3,000 years ago in India. It includes detailed questioning, pulse examination, and observation of the tongue, skin, eyes, and overall appearance. The treatment is highly individualized and may include diet, herbal remedies, massage therapy, yoga, and meditation.
  • Focus on Prevention: Ayurveda places great emphasis on prevention and encourages the maintenance of health through close attention to balance in one’s life, right thinking, diet, lifestyle, and the use of herbs.
  • Mind-Body-Spirit Connection: Ayurveda also focuses on ensuring the mind, body, and spirit are in harmony with the universe. When this balance is disturbed, health problems arise.
